Our utility patent covers the method and system behind the RIZZL puzzle mechanism. It was examined and granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office and is now in force.

A product that uses the patented mechanism cannot be made, used, sold, or imported in the United States without a license from RIZZL LLC.

A continuation-in-part application extends coverage to product configurations developed after the original filing. It carries the priority date of the original invention while broadening the claims, and is currently under examination at the USPTO.

A separate design patent application covers the ornamental appearance of the product. Where the utility patent protects how RIZZL works, the design patent protects how it looks. It is currently pending at the USPTO.

An application filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty preserves our right to pursue patent protection internationally from a single priority filing. This keeps our options open in the markets where we expect to operate.

The RIZZL name is the subject of a pending U.S. trademark application in International Class 028 (games and toys), filed on a use-in-commerce basis. RIZZL also holds common-law rights arising from its use in commerce. International trademark protection has been filed as well.

Until federal registration is granted, the mark is used with the ™ symbol.
